Industrial Laser Line Generator Lenses
These Laser Line Generator Lenses, also known as Powell lenses, generate a straight, uniform laser line by fanning out a collimated beam in one dimension, as shown in the diagram above. The apex of each lens features an aspheric curve that evenly distributes the optical power, resulting in an intensity variation of less than 25% over the center portion of the line. You will get more even energy distribution along the laser line than using the rod lenses and lenses.
While it’s assumed that using cylindrical lenses creates the same effect, thus making Powell lenses unnecessary, a big difference between the line created by a cylindrical lens and that created by a Powell lens can be found in the beam intensity along the generated line. It is possible to create a laser line using cylindrical lenses, however, the intensity profile of such a line will have a Gaussian-like distribution, meaning that the line will have a higher distribution at its center and it will slowly fade away as we reach the edges.

Powell lens are available with output fan angles of 5°-110°. They are designed for use at 405-900 nm with an input beam diameter of 0.8-5.0 mm.
Rectangular input beam can be customized for powell lens.
